Modeled after Seville, Spain and created by the same developer as Brookside, The Country Club Plaza is a sight to see. When it opened in 1923, it was the world’s first shopping center built for customers arriving by automobile. 100 years later, it is keeping up beautifully! With Spanish architectural details, intricate painted tile inlays, and fountains throughout, the plaza feels more like an outdoor art museum, than a shopping center, making it the ideal location for strolling in every season. The neighborhood is always strikingly beautiful, but probably never more so than when it is illuminated annually for one of KC’s most beloved holiday traditions.
